MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

April 24, 2009

Dear Students,

What a year it has been.  As my term as Student Senate President draws to an end there's no shortage of important events we still have on the horizon before the senate adjourns for the this academic year.  At the April 30th meeting of the senate the senate will debate the club budgets set by the finance committee, hear a presentation from and vote on the local colony Gentlemen of Quality before they petition the faculty for permission to affiliate with a national fraternity, and will hear and vote on a Green Fee proposal.

For those of you anxious to run for an executive board position for the 2009-2010 year applications will be available outside the senate office on Monday, May 4th.

At this week's meeting a few senators suggested a better effort was made to inform the general student body of the procedures by which the student senate governs itself--which the records chair .  I would ask that if you're looking to learn more about these procedures, you take a look at the Constitution and By-Laws.  Furthermore, here's a very helpful link that addresses Robert's Rules of Order--largely the senate at large utilizes Robert's Rules unless otherwise stipulated in Article III, sections I through H in the by-laws (http://www.robertsrules.com/).

Please join us each Thursday in CFA 110 at 7pm.

Thank you,
Elaine Wilson
Student Senate President
