Congratulations to our new members and officers!

On Saturday, May 23rd, 2009, 4 new members were initiated into the Knox College chapter of Psi Chi: Rachel Bauer, Chalia Bellis, Nick Fasolt, & Katy Renfroe. Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship while advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to students majoring or minoring in psychology who have taken at least four psychology classes. It is required that Psi Chi candidates have a 3.4 overall GPA with a 3.6 GPA in psychology courses. It is expected that the behavior and achievements of Psi Chi members will be a source of pride to the psychology department and contribute to its reputation on campus.

The Knox College chapter of Psi Chi was chartered in 1992. Our chapter works in conjunction with the Knox Psychology Club on a variety of projects. Past activities have included traveling to see speakers, attending the annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association in Chicago, helping with the annual alumni homecoming Fechnerfest, and sponsoring the Illowa Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference.
