Sculpture by Tetsuya Yamada, visiting assistant professor of art at Knox
College, will be on display from Friday, September 25, through Tuesday, October
13, in the Ford Center for Fine arts on the Knox campus in Galesburg. An opening reception will be held Friday, September 25, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
Yamada, who joined the Knox College faculty this month, teaches ceramics and sculpture. His show consists of works that combine wood and ceramics.
Yamada has a bachelor's degree from Tamagawa University in Tokyo and a master's degree from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. He has held visiting artist appointments at University of Massachusetts, the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine, and the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
