Area Brass Players to Perform in
"TubaChristmas" Concert on Dec. 20

Galesburg's eighth annual "TubaChristmas," a free, public concert of holiday music for brass instruments, will be presented at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 20 in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts at Knox College. Any interested low brass musicians- tubas, baritones and euphoniums- are invited to participate in the ensemble directed by Scott Garlock, associate professor of music at Knox College.

Registration for performers begins at noon, in Kresge Recital Hall, followed by a single, hour-long rehearsal. Additional information is available from Garlock at 309-341-7265 or via e-mail to sgarlock@knox.edu.

Garlock has taught at Knox since 1990 and has led the College's jazz ensembles to several performance awards. He has played on more than 100 jazz recording sessions and has performed with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony and the Peoria and Quad Cities symphonies.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
