Thomas R. Moses has been granted tenure by the Knox College Board of Trustees and promoted to the position of Associate Professor of Physics at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois.

Moses joined the Knox faculty in 1992. "In the past six years, Professor Moses has established himself as an excellent teacher of physics, for majors and non-majors alike," said Lawrence B. Breitborde, Dean of the College.

Moses' research on liquid crystals has been supported by grants from both Research Corporation and the National Science Foundation. He has written articles that have been published in Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, the American Journal of Physics, and Macromolecules.

A member of Phi Beta Kappa, Moses received his undergraduate degree at Stanford University and his Ph.D. in physics at the University of California, Berkeley.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
