Sheryl A. St. Germain
Receives Tenure at Knox College

Sheryl A. St. Germain, assistant professor of English at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois, has been granted tenure by the Board of Trustees of the College.

St. Germain joined the Knox faculty in 1994, teaching poetry and creative writing. She also teaches literature courses focused on 20th century English and American poetry, nature and environment, and sex and gender.

A Knox College Faculty Initiative Grant has supported her introduction of new courses focused on myth. "These courses have enriched both the curriculum in English and the Advanced Preceptorial Program," said Lawrence B. Breitborde, Dean of the College.

St. Germain has published six collections of poetry, as well as numerous individual poems in journals and anthologies. "With a growing national reputation, Professor St. Germain's creative work has twice been recognized by fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts," Breitborde said.

St. Germain holds a B.A. in English from Southeastern Louisiana University, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in arts and humanities from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
