Bible Scholar to Speak March 31 at Knox College
Professor Douglas Moo, Professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical
Divinity School, will give a talk, "The Search for the Historical Paul," at
10:40 a.m., Wednesday, March 31 in Room 207, for Center for the Fine Arts. The
lecture is free and open to the public.
Moo has served as a consulting scholar for the "International Standard
Version," published in 1998 and billed by its publisher, The Learn Foundation,
as the first translation of the Bible to include new "versions" published
annually on CD-
ROM,
to reflect continuing research by biblical scholars. He has written several
Bible commentaries, edited the book "Gospel and Perspectives: Viewpoints from
The Trinity Journal," and has co-edited several others, including "Five Views
on Law and Gospel" and "Three Views on the Rapture."
Moo is professor and chairman of the Department of New Testament at Trinity,
where he has taught since 1977. He also is director of Trinity's Ph.D. program
in Theological Studies. He graduated from DePauw University, received a
divinity degree at Trinity and a doctorate at University of St. Andrews.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college,
located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33
nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building
remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
