Knox College to Present 18th Annual
International Fair on January
30
Knox College will host its 18th Annual Crossroads International Fair on Saturday, Jan. 30 on the Knox campus in Galesburg, Illinois. Students from over 30 countries will present international cuisine, cultural and craft exhibits and entertainment. Tickets, which include admission to exhibits and entertainment, are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, $2 per person in groups of ten or more, and free for KNox students and children six and under.
The International Fair is produced by Knox's International Club and attracts
people from all over the area to sample food, and meet students at informational booths representing ethnicities and nationalities from Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. This year's theme selected by the students is "Coming Together Piece by Piece."
International foods prepared by students will be sold in the Oak and Skylight
Rooms in Seymour Union from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cultural booths and craft
exhibitions created by Knox students representing more than 30 countries will
be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Ford Center for Fine Arts.
The guest entertainers will be the Mullane Irish Dancers, performing at 3:30 p.m. in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for Fine Arts. The Mullane Irish Dancers, based in Chicago, are known for their popular and lively folk dancing.
Native music and dances from various cultures will be performed by students at 2 p.m. and again at 4:30 p.m.
In addition to the fair, Knox College Dining Services will serve a buffet-style international meal from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hard Knox Cafe, Seymour Union. The evening meal is available for $6.50 per person. Admission to the International Fair isn't necessary for the evening meal.
The Crossroads International Fair is produced by the Knox College
International Club, one of the largest student clubs on
the Knox campus. Knox has more than 1,100 students from 42 states and 33
nations.
