Economist Jeffrey Rous to Discuss Demand for Abortion, in Bohan Lecture, March 29 at Knox CollegeEconomist Jeffrey J. Rous will deliver the 1999 Knox College Bohan Lecture, "Demand for Abortions: An Economic Model," at 4:00 p.m., Monday, March 29, in Ferris Lounge, Seymour Union, on the Knox campus in Galesburg, Illinois.The lecture is free and open to the public. Rous is assistant professor of health economics and economic history at the University of North Texas. An expert in health and population economics, Rous has written research papers on contraceptive choices and health care financing and has given presentations on family planning. Rous received his bachelor's degree in economics from Knox College in 1989 and his Ph.D. from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1996. He is a member of the American Economics Association. The Bohan Lecture at Knox College is sponsored by an endowment fund established in memory of Peter T. Bohan, a member of the Class of 1946 who was president of Galesburg Glass Company. Knox College, located in Galesburg, Illinois, is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college. Founded in 1837, Knox's academic reputation and historical significance has drawn students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is the only building remaining from the Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1858. - end -
