Knox College Presents East Asia Night, April 18
Several Knox College student organizations will present a dinner and
entertainment to celebrate East Asian Night on Sunday, April 18 in the Oak and
Skylight Rooms, Seymour Union on the Knox campus in Galesburg, Illinois.
Tickets for the dinner are $3 for adults, $2 for students and free for children
under 12. Seating is limited and tickets can be purchased in advance by calling
the Student Activities Office at 309-341-7489.
Dinner, served at 5:30 p.m., will be a combination of Chinese, Korean and
Japanese food. Following the dinner, at 6:30 p.m., students will perform
Chinese traditional songs, a Japanese skit, and Japanese Kando. Yong Min Bai, a
Chinese martial arts instructor, will give a demonstration of Tai Ji and Gong
Fu. Bai, who began martial arts training at the age of nine, has received
awards on many different levels.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college,
located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33
nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building
remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
