Chemist to Discuss Role of Research
in Education, September 17 at Knox College

Michael P. Doyle, the Semmes Distinguished Service Professor of Chemistry at Trinity University, will give a lecture, "Research as Chemical Education," at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, in Room A-106, Umbeck Science Mathematics Center, at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It is presented as part of the September meeting of the Peoria Section of the American Chemical Society. Doyle, who has taught at Trinity College since 1984, is one of the founders of the Council on Undergraduate Research. He received his undergraduate degree from the College of St. Thomas and his doctorate from Iowa State University. He has taught at University of Illinois-Chicago and Hope College, and has won numerous academic and research honors.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
