Dialogue Productions to Perform March 24, 25 at Knox College

The Dialogue Productions theater company will present the U.S. premiere of "The MC of a Striptease Act Doesn't Give Up," by Bodo Kirchoff, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 25 in Studio Theatre, Ford Center for the Fine Arts at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.

The performances are free and open to the public.

The one-act play stars Patrick Driver as the Master of Ceremonies at a strip club whose main attraction--billed as "the world's last classical striptease artist"-- has trouble staying on schedule. The show has received critical acclaim in Berlin, London and the Edinburgh Theatre Festival. The play is directed by Patricia Benecke, who translated the script from the original German. Kirchoff is a best-selling and award-winning German novelist and playwright who, according to one British critic, writes "in the great German existentialist tradition."

Benecke and Driver are the principals in Dialogue Productions, a London-based theatre company that specializes in contemporary German drama. Driver previously was a member of Primitive Science, a theatre troupe that performed at Knox in 1998. He also has appeared with OPTIK, a performance group that has worked in Britain, Poland, Germany and Egypt. Benecke is a resident director at Horizont Theatre in Cologne, Germany and has directed numerous theatrical productions in Britain and Germany.

The performances of Dialogue Productions at Knox College are sponsored by the departments of theatre, English and modern languages; the John and Elaine Fellowes Fund for English; the Office of Intercultural Life and the Elizabeth Jahnke Metz Memorial Fund.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
