Asian Cultural Festival on Knox Campus October 7 - 11
Various groups on the Knox College campus are sponsoring an Asian Cultural
Festival from October 7 - 11. The events will include:
Wednesday, October 7
- Lecture: "Asia in the Making of the West." Jonathan GoldbergBelle, Associate Dean of the College. 4 p.m. International House, 418 S. West
Thursday, October 8
- Calligraphy Demonstration: "The Scripts of Asia." 12 noon, Gallery, Seymour Union
- Origami Workshop: Cranes and Flowers. 7 p.m., International House
Friday, October 9
- In Praise of God: Hindu Devotional Singing. 7 p.m., Ferris Lounge
Saturday, October 10
- The Rhythm of Tai Chi: An interactive introduction by Master Bai, who directs Tai Chi lessons in Galesburg, IL and in the Quad City area. 4 p.m., Upper Terrace
- Progressive Dinner: The tastes of Asia including appetizers, three main entrees, and dessert. Tickets are $3.00 and will be available on October 8 at noon in the Gallery or at Room 103 in Old Main. 6:30 p.m., Harambee House, 697 S. West Street.
Sunday, October 11
- Shilpa: The Arts of Asia shown in music, dance, drama and fashion. 3 p.m., Kresge Recital Hall
The Asian Cultural Festival is sponsored by the Chinese Club, Korean Club,
Japanese Club, Aaina: Southeast Asian Club, Islamic Club, Om Club and the
International Club of Knox College.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college,
located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33
nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building
remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
