JoEllen Schoonover Named
Food Service Director at Knox College

JoEllen Schoonover, formerly manager of campus dining services at the University of Missouri-Columbia, has been named director of dining services at Knox College. Schoonover starts her duties at Knox on September 1.

"Knox is pleased to welcome JoEllen Schoonover as director of dining services at Knox," said Pamela Faria, vice president for administrative services. "We're confident that she will continue the progress that Knox has made in dining services in recent years, with student satisfaction now running well over 90 percent."

Schoonover is a graduate of Purdue University. Working at Missouri since 1989, she was responsible for operation of a dining facility that provided more the 2,000 meals daily, From 1983 to 1989, she was a supervisor and assistant manager in the Department of Residence Services at the University of Iowa.

Schoonover succeeds Vijay Sharma, who moved to an administrative position with Marriott Education Services. Marriott managed dining services at Knox from 1994 to 1996. Knox's Dining Services operates three cafeterias and a coffeehouse for students, faculty and staff at the College, as well as catering services for dinners, receptions, and other private functions held on campus.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
