The Knox College Choir will present its Spring Concert, "Music of the Americas," at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 11 in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, Knox College. The concert is free and open to the public.
The repertoire for the first half of the concert features music by American composers Norman Dello Joio, James Mulholland, and John Alden Carpenter. There will also be musical selections from Latin America and Canada.
The second half of the concert will feature selections from twentieth century composer Stephen Sondheim including a medley of songs from the popular musical Into the Woods. Pieces from The Frogs, Follies and West Side Story will also be included. A reception will follow the concert.
The Knox College Choir is directed by Timothy R. Reynolds.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
