Alpha Phi Omega Run-A-Thon to Raise Money

for HIV/AIDS Charities May 2-3

The Knox College chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a service fraternity, will sponsor a 24-hour Run-A-Thon from 5 p.m., Friday, May 2, through 5 p.m., Saturday, May 3 in the T. Fleming Fieldhouse, Knox College. The event will raise funds for the Western Illinois Red Cross's AIDS awareness programs and Camp Heartland, a summer camp for children who live with HIV/AIDS in their lives.

Participation in the Run-a-thon is open to all Knox students, faculty and staff, as well as all members of the Galesburg community. Persons who wish to participate or sponsor a runner should contact Kate Haennicke at 341-8485. Sponsors can contribute a fixed amount or an amount based on the number of laps a runner completes.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college, located in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,100 students from 42 states and 33 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
