GALESBURG -- James R. Haslem, an attorney who specializes in corporate law, will give a talk, "Entrepreneurship and Financing: Why Wall Street Matters," at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, in Ferris Lounge, Seymour Union, Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Haslem is a partner in the corporate and securities department of the law firm Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, located in Santa Barbara, California. He specializes in corporate, finance, investment, banking and real estate law.
Haslem has written and lectured extensively on business law in California. Prior to joining SMRH he worked in the New York and Los Angeles offices of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. He earned his bachelor's degree at Columbia University and his law degree at the University of Pennsylvania.
The lecture is part of Knox College's Business Seminar Series.
Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 48 states and 40 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
