Community Band to Perform Nov. 13

GALESBURG -- The Knox-Sandburg Community Concert Band, directed by Bernie Potter, will give a free, public concert at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, in Harbach Theatre, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois.

The program will include "Variations on a Shaker Melody" by Aaron Copland, "Folk song Suite by Ralph Vaughn Williams and "Ballet Parisien" by Jacques Offenbach.

The Knox-Sandburg Community Concert Band is made up of musicians from Knox College, Carl Sandburg College and the Galesburg area. The band gives three concerts annually and rehearses weekly during the school year. Interested musicians are invited to attend weekly rehearsals, which will resume at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 48 states and 40 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
