Lectures on Christianity, Sept. 26

GALESBURG -- Craig Blomberg, a New Testament scholar and historian, will give two talks about Christianity on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. At 4:00 p.m. he will speak in the Common Room, Old Main, on "The Historical Reliability of the Gospels." At 7:30 p.m. he will speak in Ferris Lounge, Seymour Union, on "12 Reasons to Believe in the Historical Reliability of the Gospels." The talks are free and open to the public.

Blomberg, a professor of New Testament at Denver Seminary, is a well known scholar on theology and history. His recent writings include "The Miracles of Jesus," "The Historical Reliability of the Gospels," "Jesus and the Gospels," and "Interpreting the Parables." He co-authored "Introduction to Biblical Interpretation." He has also written Bible commentaries and articles in professional journals, dictionaries and encyclopedias.

Blomberg received his bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Augustana College, his master's degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and his doctorate at Aberdeen University.

The lectures are sponsored by Intervarsity Christian Fellowship which invites all to attend.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 48 states and 40 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
