Workers successfully replaced the bell and tower atop Old Main today (Tuesday, Jan. 29). Fox Construction Co. of Galesburg first lifted the bell to the top of the 150-year-old building, followed by the tower. The tower was removed in December after the discovery of deterioration in the wood. The bell was also removed for repairs; it had not rung since 1987.
