"Visual Impact," art works by Tony Gant and Lynette Lombard, associate professors of art at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois, is currently on exhibit in the Paul Mellon Arts Center Gallery at Chaote Rosemary Hall Wallingford, Connecticut.
The show, on display through Nov. 10, features more than 50 works in all collages, paintings and tile constructions by Gant; and paintings by Lombard. Gant's works are based on Spanish landscapes. Lombard's paintings were made in the south of Spain and near Galesburg.
About the Artists
Lynette Lombard is a landscape painter who works on large and medium
size works directly from the terrain of Andalusia in southern Spain and
western Illinois. Her work focuses on expressing the elemental heat,
light and rugged expansiveness of the vistas she experiences. She earned a bachelor's degree at Goldsmith's College School of Art, University of London, and a master of fine arts degree at Yale University. Her works have been exhibited in shows in New York; Chicago; Davenport, Iowa; and New Haven, Connecticut.
Tony Gant makes collages, paintings and ceramic tile pieces from the
landscape of southern Spain. Using shards from old tiles found in the
mountainous regions of Andalusia, Gant organizes the patterns and color
to express the rhythms and drama he experiences there. Gant is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute and has a master or fine arts degree from Yale University. He has exhibited in New York and Chicago.
Gant and Lombard have taught at Knox since 1990.
