A new Christmas album by Broceliande, a West Coast group featuring Margaret Davis, a Galesburg native and 1983 Knox graduate, is now on sale at the Galesburg Civic Art Center and other vendors.
"Sir Christemas: Songs of the Season" contains traditional Western European and American music dating from the late Middle Ages to the 19th Century. The album is the first of four volumes of a new series to be produced by Broceliande, entitled "Songs of the Season."
A four-member group based in the San Francisco area, Broceliande specializes in Celtic, Renaissance and Medieval music. Davis, who majored in music at Knox, sings and plays Celtic harp, flute, and recorders. She and her husband, guitarist Kristoph Klover, have been performing together since 1993, and formed Broceliande in 1999.
Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 47 states and 42 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
