The Knox College Choir, directed by Laura Lane Professor of Music, will give a free concert at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28, in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois.
The program includes classical works by Schubert, Palestrina and Monteverdi; American spirituals and contemporary choral works; and several a capella selections performed by the Chamber Singers.
"Beatus vir" by Monteverdi will feature vocal soloists Heather Holmquest, Kristin Miserocchi, Mary Morales, Adam Doe, Will Culbertson and Doug Smith; with guest instrumentalists Sophie Brigham and Kira Horel on violin, Helen Hoyt on cello. Paul Basler's "Alleluia" will feature Steven Schultz on French horn.
Lane is the Director of Choral Activities and Chair of the Music Department at Knox College. She is also the founder and director of Nova Singers, a professional vocal group. Amber Clark is the choir's accompanist.
