Brian Prugh, a June 2001 graduate of Knox College, has been awarded a Javits Fellowship. He is one of 30 winners of the prestigious grant, which supports outstanding graduate students in the humanities.
Prugh, who graduated magna cum laude in June, will be attending the University of Chicago this fall, studying in its doctoral program in philosophy. He majored in philosophy and mathematics at Knox and was awarded College Honors for his research project, "The Proof Has A Hole In It! 'Gaps' and the Axioms That Fill Them."
A 1996 graduate of North Central High School, Indianapolis, Indiana, Prugh is the son of G. Michael and Pamela Toteno Prugh of Indianapolis.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
