KGS Announces Season

The award-winning Knox-Galesburg Symphony will mark its 50th anniversary in 2001-2002, with an expanded season of concerts and special events in Galesburg, Illinois.

Under the baton of Bruce Polay, music director/conductor, the Knox Galesburg Symphony will accompany national and international guest artists in an expanded season beginning October 19, 2001 and concluding in June 2002. Tickets are available from the Orpheum Ticket Office at 309-342-2299.


Upcoming Events
June 8, 2002 Free Concert on the Lawn, south of Old Main at Knox College, Memorial Gymnasium in case of rain. Concert begins at 5 p.m.


KGS concerts are in the Orpheum Theatre, 55 S. Kellogg, Galesburg. Single concert tickets as well as ticket packages are available at the Orpheum Theatre Office, 60 S. Kellogg St., Galesburg or by calling the Orpheum at 309-342-2299.

The KGS 2001-2002 50th Anniversary season is sponsored, in part, by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation, Knox College, Maytag, NAEIR, G & M Distributing, Galesburg Cottage Hospital, OSF HealthPlans, OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Register-Mail, and is a Heartland Arts Fund Program with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

The Knox-Galesburg Symphony has twice been named Illinois Orchestra of the Year by the Illinois Council of Orchestras, and music director Bruce Polay has won Illinois Conductor of the Year honors.
