Hastings, a member of the Knox faculty since 1986, will continue to teach half-time in the Mathematics Department.
"Kevin Hastings brings a concern for detail and rigor, logical reasoning, and a deep understanding of teaching and learning at Knox," said Lawrence Breitborde, Dean of Knox College and Vice President for Academic Affairs. "Professor Hastings will maintain and enhance the new technology- based processes that Professor Eisenberg so effectively introduced in the past few years."
The Registrar's Office is responsible for maintaining academic records, monitoring compliance with academic regulations, overseeing course enrollment, and providing academic information to students and faculty advisors.
Hastings, a 1976 graduate of Knox, earned his master's and doctoral degrees at Northwestern University. He has published several books on statistics and operations research. Hastings is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Mathematical Association of America, and the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science.
Eisenberg has served as registrar since 1997 and has taught economics at Knox since 1988. He is a member of the American Economic Association and Economic History Association, and has served on the Board of Directors of United Way of Knox County.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
