Concert Band Performance, May 20

The Knox-Sandburg Community Concert Band will perform at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 20 on Hoyt Garden patio, on the west side of Ford Center for the Fine Arts, Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. the concert is free and open to the public. In case of rain, the concert will be held in Harbach Theatre.

The band will perform pieces from American and British composers, including themes from Rimsky-Korsakoff's "Scheherezade," Copland's "Variations on a Shaker Melody," and Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever." The band, which consists of community musicians and students at Knox and Carl Sandburg colleges, is directed by Bob Clark, adjunct instructor of music at Knox. Meghan Rutledge and Jim Jackson will each serve as guest conductors for one selection.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
