Knox Faculty Member in Chicago Dance Project

Jennifer Smith, instructor of dance at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois, is a cast member of the Chicago presentation of a national touring dance project, "PAST Forward: A Tribute to the Judson Church Theatre. The show is playing Nov. 15-19 at the Dance Center of Columbia College and is "a sold-out success" according to the Chicago Tribune (Nov. 12, 2000).

The performances are directed by dance legend Mikhail Baryshnikov and his company, The White Oak Project. For PAST Forward, he is restaging some of the most historical work that came out of the New York dance scene in the 1960-70's. Baryshnikov is traveling to seven different locations in the United States, working with a local cast of dancers in each city.

Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
