Lyric soprano Ellea Pierra Zamia and pianist David Rogosin will give a free concert, "Evening of Song," at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, Knox College, Galesburg, IL. Zamia will also conduct a free, public master class at 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29 in Kresge Recital Hall.
Zamia is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards in France. Her current program features French and German art songs, opera excerpts, and a group of Creole songs from her native Guadeloupe.
Rogosin, an assistant professor of music at Knox College, has worked with Zamia on a number of occasions, including a concert at the 1987 International Festival of the Arts in Forts-de-France, Martinique. A member of the Knox faculty since 1998, he teaches music theory, piano, and twentieth century music history. Rogosin received his D.M.A. from the University of British Columbia in 1996 and has taught, studied and performed widely in Canada.
The recital is sponsored by the Knox College Music Department.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
