Robin Ragan, Instructor in Spanish at Knox College, will give a lecture, "How to be a Clean Woman: The Discourse of Hygiene in Nineteenth Century Spain," at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Common Room, Old Main, Knox College, Galesburg, IL.
Ragan earned her B.A. and MA and is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Illinois. She has been teaching at Knox College since 2000.
The lecture is part of a series in the Gender and Women's Studies Colloquium, which presents six lectures a year pertaining to gender and women's issues.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
