The Knox Jazz Ensemble, directed by Scott Garlock, present their fall concert at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3 in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. The performance is free and open to the public.
The ensemble will perform jazz works from funk to traditional swing.
The ensemble features Meghan Rutledge, Jason Hamilton, Kevin Malley, Justin Haynes, Andy Soucier, Allison OÕMahen, Will Boast, Gabe Keenan, Bryan Osborne, Chris Nelson, Amy Rieckelman, Doug Falk, Megan Clair, Nate Wiswall, Andy Crawford, John Doyle, Todd Nahm, and Lucas Gorham.
For the past seven years the ensemble and its members have won numerous citations at collegiate jazz festivals, including the University of Notre Dame Jazz Festival, The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Festival, The Tri-C Jazz Festival, The Elmhurst College Jazz Festival, and the Western Illinois University Jazz Festival.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
