Karrie Heartlein has been named director of public relations at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. She began working at Knox on December 1.
"I'm delighted to announce that Karrie Heartlein has joined the Public Relations Office at Knox College," said Gary Francois, Interim Vice President for Advancement. "She brings extensive experience in corporate communications at the national level, as well as first-hand knowledge about Knox College from her teaching in the English department."
Prior to coming to Knox, Heartlein worked six years for McGladrey & Pullen LLP, an accounting and consulting firm where she served as national director of communications; two years as lead technical writer for Caterpillar, Inc., and three years as a freelance corporate communications consultant.
Heartlein, who lives in Galesburg, earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English at Bradley University and has been an adjunct member of the Knox College English faculty since 1997.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
