Gary Francois Appointed Interim Vice President at Knox College
Gary Francois, Szold Distinguished Service Professor of Psychology and Assistant to the President, has been named interim Vice President for Advancement, following the resignation of Bruce Downsbrough on Wednesday.
"I have full confidence in Professor Francois's leadership of the advancement office during the transition period," said Richard S. Millman, President of Knox College. Francois, who has taught at Knox since 1963, has served for the past two years as Assistant to the President.
Downsbrough, at Knox since 1997, resigned for personal reasons, according to an announcement to the campus by President Millman. A search will begin immediately to fill the post.
Founded in 1837, Knox is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with 1,220 students from 47 states and 41 nations. Knox's "Old Main," a National Historic Landmark, is the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
