13 Saturday 3 p.m. Sandburg Birthplace 331 East Third St. Award Ceremony. Presentation of awards in the Knox College-Sandburg Historic Site Association Poetry Contest. Ceremony held in the cottage where Carl Sandburg, the great American poet, was born.

17 Wednesday 7 p.m. Kresge Hall, CFA Lecture: "Clear-Cutting Our National Forests." Representative of RACE (Regional Area Concerned Environmentalists), a group opposed to commercial logging in the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois.

18 Thursday 8 p.m. Ferris Lounge, SU Lecture: "Biblical Myth and Rabbinic Myth Making." Michael Fishbane, Professor of Jewish Studies, University of Chicago Divinity School, will discuss the presence and interpretation of mythic elements in the Bible.

22 Monday 7:30 p.m. Round Room, CFA Lecture: "Digging For a Legend: The Gottschall Project." Robert Salzner, Department of Anthropology, Beloit College, will present a slide talk on recently discovered prehistoric cave-paintings in Wisconsin, thought to depict the Winnebago Indian "Legend of Red Horn."
