1 Friday 7 p.m. Gallery, CFA Opening Reception and Exhibition: "Growth and Decay," an exhibition of sculptures by Cheryl L. Meeker. A 1984 Knox College graduate, Meeker is a lecturer in art at Monmouth and Carl Sandburg colleges. On display through Feb. 28.

3 Sunday 3 p.m. Kresge Hall, CFA Recital: Music of African-American Composers. Donna DeBose, soprano, and Tella DeBose, piano, perform compositions by Dett, Still, Taylor, Cordero and Mells, as well as selected spirituals.

6 Wednesday 4 p.m. Common Room, OM Lecture: "Independent Filmmaking in West Africa: The Case of Sembene Ousmane." M. Elizabeth Tardola, adjunct faculty member at Beloit College, will discuss the work of Ousmane, an African film producer.

15 Friday 5 p.m. Oak Room, Seymour Union 154th Founders Day Convocation, marking the establishment of Knox College in 1837. Inaugural presentations of the Florida Omeis Recognition Awards in Education. The awards for outstanding high school educators are named in memory of a legendary Galesburg teacher and benefactor of Knox College.

Kellogg Concert: The Knox-Galesburg Symphony, directed by Bruce Polay, Assistant Professor of Music, will perform the American premiere of David Finko's Symphony No. 2. Guest pianist Robert Swan will join the Symphony for Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto in B-flat minor Opus 23. Tickets available at the Orpheum Box Office, 309-342-2299.

21 Thursday 8 p.m. Harbach Theatre, CFA Knox College Repertory Theatre presents the Pulitzer-Prize-winning play JB, by Archibald MacLeish. The play, an adaptation of the biblical story of Job, confronts the question of human suffering. The play also will be performed on February 23, 25, 27, and March 1. Tickets available at the door.

22 Friday 8 p.m. Harbach Theatre, CFA Knox College Repertory Theatre presents The Rimers of Eldritch, a surrealistic murder-mystery and social commentary by award-winning playwright Lanford Wilson. The play will also be presented on February 24, 26, 28 and March 2. Tickets available at the door.
