1 Thursday 8:00 p.m. Kresge, CFA Concert: The Knox Jazz Ensemble directed by Scott Garlock, Visiting Instructor in Music, performs tunes from the 1930's through the 1980's. Featured works by Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Thelonius Monk, and Keith Jarrett.

5 Monday 4:00 p.m. Common Room, Old Main Lecture: "Economic Reforms in China: What Prospect for Women?" Mary Eysenbach, Professor of Economics. A specialist in economic development and human resources, Prof. Eysenbach spent three weeks in China last summer, meeting with Chinese university economists in Shanghai, Beijing, and Wuhan.

7 Wednesday 8:00 p.m. Harbach Theatre, CFA Concert: The Knox Sandburg Community Concert Band, directed by Scott Garlock, Visiting Instructor in Music. Works include selections from Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Robert Russell Bennett's Suite of American Dances and other popular marches.

8 Thursday 4:00 p.m. Kresge Hall, CFA Recital: Vocal and instrumental performances by Knox College students.

9 Friday 4 p.m. Common Room, OM Lecture: "Current Issues in Philosophy of Science": Richard Creath, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Arizona State University and 1969 graduate of Knox College. One of the world's leading scholars in the work of philosopher Rudolph Carnap, Prof. Creath will discuss alternative views of scientific development.

10 Saturday 8:00 p.m. Orpheum Theatre 57 S. Kellogg St. Concert: The Knox Galesburg Symphony conducted by Bruce Polay, Associate Professor of Music. Featured performers include Michael Ericson, oboe, and Robert Koper, bassoon. Works include Vivaldi's Bassoon Concerto in B-flat Major, La Notte, Kvandal's Oboe Concerto, and Beethoven's Fourth Symphony. Tickets available from the Orpheum Theatre Box Office: 342-2299.

11 Sunday 3:00 p.m. Kresge, CFA Concert: Selections for organ and harpsichord, performed by Charles Farley, Robert W. Murphy Professor of Music.

15 Thursday 4:00 p.m. Kresge Hall, CFA Recital: Vocal and instrumental performances by Knox College Students.

December 1990 1 Saturday 7:30 p.m. 1st Presbyterian Church Prairie and Water Sts. Concert: A Baroque Christmas with the Galesburg Community Chorus, directed by Laura Lane, Assistant Professor of Music. Selections include works by Pachelbel and Handel. Accompanied by strings and flutes. Tickets available at the door.

7 & 8 Friday & Saturday Colony Church Bishop Hill, Illinois Concert: Christmas Carols by the Nova Singers, directed by Laura Lane, Assistant Professor of Music. Presented in conjunction with Lucia Nights at Bishop Hill.
