There are three main shopping districts in Galesburg. Close by is the
downtown area (Main Street and side streets around it from Broad to
Chambers),
which has mostly smaller specialty shops. On Seminary Street just south
of
Main Street there are some especially nice gift shops, a great bakery
(Uncle
Billy's Bakery), and an excellent specialty food store (Cornucopia:
cheese,
grains, spices, sandwiches, "health food"); just north of Main Street
is
Innkeeper's Coffee, a great source for coffee and tea. The second area
is north
on Henderson Street. Here you'll find a grocery store (Hy-Vee) and
Sandburg Mall. The Mall has a range of small stores, along with
the anchors: Bergner's (a
relatively nice department store), J.C. Penney, Sears, and K-Mart.
Another discount store, Target is on Carl
Sandburg Drive, just north of the mall. Lowe's and Staples are
the other side of Henderson St. from the mall; entrances from Carl
Sandburg Drive. A third shopping area is north on Seminary
Street, at the intersection of Rt. 34. Here you'll find a
SuperWalmart (including a grocery store) and Menard's. There's a
third major grocery store (another Hy-Vee) on E. Main Street.
